It was good but they spent a lot of the time being stubborn and battling one another. She did hurtful things and he said hurtful things. They do seem to be able to work when they calm done but they really only did that after the first half of the book. He wanted her to admit who she was and she was fighting it tooth and nail. That was what the book was about in general. I did feel the love but it was a withdrawn version of it because both seemed hesitant to give it up fully to the other for fear of being hurt. A previous reviewer was wrong. The hero's family was part of the mob and the hero's dad got shot getting out when the hero was 17 years old. The hero himself was never in it but he grew up with the lifestyle. It seemed that the reviewer was adamant about him having nothing to do with that life and that the heroine's fears were unfounded but they were not. She had legitimate fears and I feel awful about her sister. I wish that could have not happened because no one deserves that and I would hate her parents too if I was her...especially her dad!! I mean to go from being daddy's little girl to knowing he caused your favored sister to die because he is a selfish coward is just terrible.Product details

Read this only when you have plenty of time to absorb the full flavors of both characters and can roll with the emotional punches this dramatic romance pulls. Developing both the characters viewpoint worked really well and it's possible to feel the emotional issues that both H and h have with each other as well as with their family past. Jillian is desperate and will do anything to stay in baby's life and whilst Vitt wants to hate her for keeping their son from him, he hates himself for the desperation and despair that Jillian radiates in his hardhearted bargaining.
They are both proud, stubborn and unmalleable. Neither can one-upmanship the other. And neither will relent. A fully high octane, mesmerising ride - who will win the battle of wills?

Jillian Smith thought she had met the man of her dreams but when she overhears talks about his ties to the mafia she knows she needs to flee. Having his son is a carefully guarded secret she has hidden but Vittorio d'Severano sweeps in and makes it very clear he is taking his son with or without her. Jillian has to decide if she is willing to put her ideals aside to keep her son and not lose her heart in the process.
Entertaining. I thought this was fast paced and initially did not like Vittorio but he grows on you. I would check out mote from this author.
The story was mildly entertaining. I think the author could have gone a little deeper with the plot and character development. However over all I finished the book and enjoyed it. Not one to put on the shelf to read again one day, but good enough to deserve a read once.
Vittorio Marcello d'Severano was a force of nature, a human being that inspired awe or fear in virtually everyone and jillian was not a shrinking violet either. stormy from start to finish...strong characters and good read.
Ok so this is one of the few romance books that I hated the hero Vittorio or just Vitt to our heroine. She is running from her mafia in witness protection family and runs right into Vitt. She runs from him because she believes he also is involved with the mafia- he's Sicilian and as you know all of them are in the mob. She was a twit. The story was not boring but he treated her like crap and she took it because she loved him? For her son? What she needed was to get her mafia father to frag his arrogant ass. Every time they had sex he insulted her and she just loved him more, this was a doormat in the making. I found no romance in this book until the last chapter and by then even I didn't care anymore. At the end there were a lot of lose ends.
I love this book by Jane porter. Love the plot.
